Introduction

Runic Discs are the equipment layer of a Stella Sora build, and they are recruited separately from Trekkers. A Disc carries two kinds of effect: Disc Skills, which are the base layer visible from the Record Details screen, and Harmony Skills, which level up or down automatically as the number of linked Musical Notes in your Record changes. That second layer is what makes Discs a building problem rather than a shopping problem — a Disc is only as good as the Note structure sitting behind it. Disc banners also run on their own currencies: Gold Discs on the permanent banner and event-limited Disc tickets on limited banners, and the two are not interchangeable. Version 2.0 added Note Adjustment, which lets a finished Record redistribute unassigned Notes without rebuilding.

Disc System Breakdown

Disc Skills

meta

The base effect layer you actually evaluate

What It IsDisc Skills are viewable from the Disc Skills interface and form the unconditional part of a Disc's value. They are what you compare when deciding whether a banner is worth your currency, because they do not depend on anything else in the Record.
How To Judge ItAsk what the Disc does for the element team you are already developing. A Disc generally strengthens one elemental type, so a powerful Disc outside your committed element contributes nothing to the squad you actually field.
Common ErrorRecruiting on the Disc banner from the same impulse as the Trekker banner. The two pools are separate, so a Disc pull is a second investment decision rather than a bonus attached to the Trekker you just recruited.

Harmony Skills

meta

Conditional effects that move with your Musical Notes

What It IsHarmony Skills are the layer that levels up or down automatically as the number of linked Musical Notes in the Record changes. They are not a fixed bonus; they respond to the Note structure you have assembled around the Disc.
How To Judge ItLook at the Notes, not just the Disc. A Harmony Skill that sits at a low level because your Record is Note-poor will underperform in play even though the same Disc performs well in a review.
Common ErrorAssuming a Harmony Skill's listed maximum is its working value. The level tracks your Note count, so the effect you get is the one your Record currently supports.

Musical Notes

meta

The resource that decides what your Discs actually do

What It IsMusical Notes — also referred to as Elemental Notes — are the linked resource in a Record that Harmony Skills read from. Each individual Note can hold a value from 0 to 99, and the total structure is what determines how strong the conditional layer becomes.
How To Judge ItTreat Notes as the second half of the Disc decision. Two accounts can hold the same Disc and get different results from it purely because the number and distribution of Notes in their Records differ.
Common ErrorIgnoring the Note layer while chasing Discs. The Disc is the visible purchase, but the Note structure behind it is what converts that purchase into damage.

Note Adjustment

new

Version 2.0 workflow for re-tuning Notes

What It IsIntroduced in Version 2.0. Note Adjustment is entered from the Disc Skills interface, lets you bank unassigned Notes up to a limit, and then redistributes them across Elemental Notes. Linked Harmony Skills follow the change automatically.
How To Use ItBank the Notes you want to move, then reassign them where your committed element benefits most. Because the Harmony Skills respond automatically, you can see the effect of a reallocation without rebuilding the Disc layer underneath it.
Common ErrorSpending the confirmation material casually. Adjustment is permanent once saved and the consumed item is not refunded, so decide the target distribution before confirming rather than experimenting with it.

Disc Recruitment Currencies

meta

Gold Discs, Silver Discs and limited Disc tickets

What It IsDisc recruitment runs on its own currencies. The permanent Disc banner uses Gold Discs, while limited Disc banners use event-specific limited Disc tickets. Silver Discs exist as a lower-tier currency for Disc recruitment.
How To Use ItPlan which banner the currency was actually issued for. Because the currencies are not interchangeable, a stockpile of the wrong Disc currency does not convert into the limited Disc you were saving toward.
Common ErrorTreating Disc tickets as a generic pool. Limited Disc tickets issued by one event do not necessarily apply to the next banner, so check which banner the ticket names before assuming it carries over.

All That Was Beautiful

event

Event-shop 5-star with no element published

What It IsA Version 1.16 event-shop exchange rather than a banner recruit, which makes it one of the few documented high-rarity Discs obtainable through event currency instead of recruitment. Its element is not stated in the official material, so it cannot be matched to a committed team in advance.
How To Judge ItTreat it as a shop decision under the same rules as any other Disc: it is only worth prioritising if the element matches the team you field. Because the element is unpublished, the sensible approach is to read the in-game Disc Skills description before exchanging event currency for it.
Common ErrorAssuming a high rarity is automatically worth the exchange. An off-element Disc of any rarity contributes nothing to a committed element squad, and event currency spent on it is currency not spent on the tier-up materials behind it.

Deer's Song

limited

Version 1.2 ★5 Ventus Disc

What It IsNamed in the Version 1.2 announcement as a ★5 Ventus Disc, which places it among the earlier documented high-rarity Discs in the game. Being an older release it has been available across more banners than the recent limited Discs, so availability is less of a problem than it is for anniversary-tier releases.
How To Judge ItCompare it against the current limited Disc in the same element rather than against the newest Disc overall. A Ventus squad benefits from whichever Ventus Disc it can actually obtain, and an older Disc that is recruitable is usually worth more to a live account than a newer one behind a window that has closed.
Common ErrorDiscounting older Discs because they are older. The Disc layer does not have a version treadmill in the way Trekkers sometimes appear to — what matters is whether the Disc strengthens the element you have committed to and whether its Harmony Skills match your Note structure.

Ripples of Nostalgia

limited

Lux Disc described as a targeted element boost

What It IsOfficial press material describes it as providing a powerful boost to Lux-elemental teams, which is a more specific statement than most Disc descriptions carry. A Disc framed around one element is a direct signal that it belongs in a mono-element squad rather than a mixed one.
How To Judge ItIf Lux is your committed element, this is the kind of Disc description to prioritise, because the stated effect and the team you field point the same way. If Lux is not your element, the same description is the reason to skip it — the boost is targeted rather than general.
Common ErrorReading an element-specific boost as a general power increase. The value of a Disc described this way is almost entirely conditional on the squad around it, so the same Disc can be excellent for one account and inert for another.

Snowy Night Surprise

limited

★5 Ignis Disc from the Snowish period

What It IsAn official announcement names it as a ★5 Ignis Disc, released in the period associated with the Snowish Festival. Ignis appears on published recommended-element lists for Beyond-difficulty content, so the element has a documented role in the hardest tier of play.
How To Judge ItConsider it when your account already holds an Ignis carry, because the Disc supports an element team rather than a single unit. Ignis shows up in published vulnerability rotations often enough that the investment is not narrow, but it still assumes you have committed to the element.
Common ErrorChasing an Ignis Disc before owning an Ignis carry. Because Discs strengthen an element rather than creating one, the order matters: recruit the Trekker that defines the team, then acquire the Disc that supports it.

Veiled Dawn of Spring

limited

★5 Terra Disc from a limited lineup

What It IsNamed in an official announcement as a ★5 Terra Disc and featured in a limited banner lineup. Terra appears in higher Authorization Level Cataclysm zones and on dedicated limited Trekkers, so the element has a defined place in endgame content even though its support arrives less frequently than Lux or Umbra.
How To Judge ItWorth pursuing if Terra is already your element, because Terra support arrives less often than the headline elements and a Disc window is easy to miss. If Terra is not your committed element, the same scarcity is an argument against starting one on the basis of a single Disc.
Common ErrorSwitching elements to chase a Disc. Because the Record is the expensive half of the build, changing element on the basis of one Disc window means rebuilding the entire Disc, Potential and Note structure around it.

Core Mechanics

The Disc layer works because it is recursive. A Disc supplies Disc Skills unconditionally, but its Harmony Skills are gated on the Musical Notes linked in the Record, and Notes are themselves a resource you allocate. That means the same Disc produces a different result on two accounts, and it means a Disc banner is only half a purchase — the other half is the Note structure you build around it. Version 2.0 made that structure editable through Note Adjustment, which banks unassigned Notes up to a fixed limit and lets you redistribute them across Elemental Notes, with the linked Harmony Skills following automatically. Because the change is permanent once confirmed, the workflow rewards deciding the target distribution first and confirming second, rather than testing distributions and settling on one.

Advantages

Discs are the most legible investment in Stella Sora because both effect layers are visible before you commit. Disc Skills can be inspected from the interface, and the Harmony Skills that depend on your Notes respond to the Note structure you already have, so you can predict roughly what a Disc will do for your account rather than discovering it after the pull. The separate currency system is also a genuine advantage for planning: because limited Disc tickets arrive through events and the permanent banner runs on Gold Discs, a patient account can accumulate permanent-banner recruitment without competing with Trekker pulls on the same resource. Note Adjustment then removes the rebuild penalty that used to sit at the end of the process.

Challenges & Weaknesses

Disc investment is unforgiving of indecision. Because a Disc generally strengthens one elemental type, a Disc recruited outside your committed element is close to dead weight, and there is no published full Disc list to plan against — Yostar has never released a complete pool, so the documented subset in this wiki is only what official announcements happen to name. The currency split compounds the problem: limited Disc tickets do not convert into the permanent banner's currency, so a player who spreads pull attempts across banners ends up with progress toward neither. Add the permanence of Note Adjustment confirmation and the Disc layer demands that the element decision be settled before any currency is spent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Disc Skills and Harmony Skills?+
Disc Skills are the base effect layer and apply unconditionally; they are what you inspect from the Disc Skills interface when judging a Disc. Harmony Skills are conditional effects that level up or down automatically as the number of linked Musical Notes in your Record changes. A Disc therefore has a fixed component and a variable one.
How many Runic Discs exist in Stella Sora?+
Yostar has not published a complete Disc list, so nobody outside the developer can answer this accurately. The Discs documented on this wiki are those named in official announcements and press material, which makes the list a verified subset rather than a complete pool. Treat any claims of a full Disc database with suspicion.
Are Gold Discs and limited Disc tickets interchangeable?+
No. The permanent Disc banner recruits with Gold Discs, while limited Disc banners use their own event-limited Disc tickets, and official announcements treat the two as distinct resources. That means a stockpile built for one banner does not carry over to the other, so check which banner your currency was issued for before planning a pull.
Should I pull Discs or Trekkers first?+
Settle the element first, then decide. A Disc is only valuable inside the element team it strengthens, so a Disc pulled before you have committed produces nothing, while a Trekker recruited first gives you the target your Disc pulls should serve. Most accounts are better off recruiting the Trekker that defines their element and building the Record underneath it.

Quick Tips

💡

Judge a Disc by the Notes sitting behind it, not by its own description. Harmony Skills level up or down with the number of linked Musical Notes in your Record, so two accounts holding the same Disc get different results from it depending on how their Note structure is distributed.

💡

Check which banner a Disc currency was issued for before assuming it carries over. Gold Discs serve the permanent Disc banner while limited banners use their own event-specific Disc tickets, and the official announcements treat the two as separate resources that do not convert into each other. Checking the ticket name costs nothing and prevents a stockpile from quietly expiring against the wrong banner entirely.

💡

Decide the target Note distribution before confirming a Note Adjustment. The change is permanent once saved and the consumed confirmation item is not refunded, so the workflow rewards planning the destination first and pressing confirm second, rather than experimenting and settling afterwards. The interface shows the effect of a reallocation before you commit, so an informed choice is available at every step of the workflow.

💡

Recruit Discs only in the element you have already committed to. A Disc generally strengthens one elemental type, so one recruited outside your committed element contributes nothing at all to the team you actually field, and there is no way to convert it into the Disc you should have bought.

💡

Treat the Disc list on this wiki as a documented subset rather than a complete pool. Yostar has never published a full Disc database, so anything not named in an official announcement is simply unknown, and planning should be built on the Discs that can be confirmed to exist and to be obtainable.
