Guides
Stella Sora beginner guides covering account setup, Authorization Level gating, Vigor budgeting and the first Ascension run that opens up the rest of the game for new players.
Introduction
Stella Sora opens with a small number of decisions that shape everything after them: how you bind your account, where your first Vigor goes, and which Record you commit to building. The Monolith only opens once the New Star Guild prologue is cleared, and from that point the game stops being a tutorial and starts being a resource-planning problem. Authorization Level gates content in rising steps, Vigor is the meter that decides how many runs you can attempt, and Daily Affairs is the routine that keeps Vigor from capping out while you are away. Getting these three systems in the right order is what separates an account that reaches Ascension quickly from one that stalls on side content.
Progression Milestones by Authorization Level Band
| Stage of Play | Unlocks | What To Do First | Common Mistake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account Setup | Login method binding | Bind Steam, email, Google or Apple before recruiting anything | Pulling on a banner on an unbound account and losing the progress when moving platforms |
| After the Prologue | Monolith, Ascension, Trekker Association | Run the first Ascension immediately to start Monolith Research | Grinding side content while Vigor caps out every session |
| Early Authorization Levels | Daily Affairs, higher-tier stages | Set a Daily Affairs routine so Vigor is spent on schedule | Treating Vigor as a hoardable resource instead of a daily budget |
| Mid Authorization Levels | Higher-difficulty Ascension, more Monolith Research nodes | Commit to one element and build the Record that supports it | Splitting Disc pulls across every element and finishing none |
| High Authorization Levels | Beyond and Chaotic content, all arenas | Tune the finished Record with Record Adjustment instead of rebuilding | Re-farming a Record from scratch when Lv. 21 adjustment was already available |

Core Mechanics
The loop that Stella Sora actually runs on is short and repeats: spend Vigor on a stage or an Ascension run, convert that run into materials, research nodes and Disc or Potential progress, then reinvest into a Record that can clear a higher difficulty. Everything else in the game — events, minigames, Tyrant's Tower — feeds one of those steps rather than replacing them. Authorization Level sits above the loop as the gate on how far it can run, and Vigor sits below it as the metered input. Once a player internalises that the Record, not the roster, is the variable being optimised, most early decisions become obvious: recruit toward the element you have committed to, tune the Record before chasing a new Trekker, and let the Autopilot handle the runs you have already solved.
Advantages
Starting well is cheap in Stella Sora because the game hands out the materials that matter. The launch mail, the anniversary login tracks and the starter objectives together deliver Cerulean Tickets, Sprout Tickets and Stellanite Dust without any grinding, which means a new account can build a functional Record within its first few sessions. Vigor regenerates on a fixed schedule, so progress continues even when a player can only log in briefly. The Daily Affairs layer converts those short logins into Token Supply for the Vita Autopilot, and the Autopilot in turn converts Token Supply back into Monolith progress without manual play. That chain — free materials, scheduled Vigor, automated Quick Battle — is unusually forgiving for a live-service RPG, and it means a free-to-play account that plans its elements can stay within reach of the account that spends.
Challenges & Weaknesses
The friction in Stella Sora is mostly informational rather than mechanical. Yostar publishes thresholds and system rules in announcement posts, but does not publish damage multipliers, drop rates or levelling caps, so a player has to plan around unknowns instead of optimising against a spreadsheet. Vigor is unforgiving if a session is wasted on the wrong stage — a failed Ascension run still consumes the entry cost — and Authorization Level gates can park an account outside an event window it was otherwise strong enough to clear. The Monolith itself is procedurally generated, so the randomised bonuses offered mid-run vary in usefulness and a good run can be decided as much by what the floor offers as by how well the squad was built. None of these are blockers, but together they reward reading before spending.

Quick Tips
Bind your account before your first recruitment. Cross-platform synchronisation in Stella Sora only applies to accounts that were bound to a login method, and an unbound account carries no recoverable identity. This is the single early mistake that cannot be repaired by replaying content, because the recruitment results and any currency spent on them are attached to an identity that does not exist anywhere else.
Spend your first Vigor on an Ascension run rather than on side stages. Monolith Research nodes only start accumulating after a run has been completed, and those nodes gate how useful every later system will be to your account. Side stages can always be farmed later with a stronger squad, but the research progress you skipped in the opening hours is not something a better team lets you recover retroactively.
Pick one element before you pull Runic Discs. Disc value depends entirely on the element team you are developing, so spreading recruitment across several elements produces a set of half-supported squads instead of one team that can actually clear higher difficulties. Decide from your first ★5 Trekker and let every Disc pull after that serve the same element.
Run Daily Affairs before your longer sessions rather than after. The tasks themselves are cheap and quick, but the Token Supply they grant is the fuel that Vita Autopilot consumes. Since Autopilot is how you eventually automate the Quick Battle runs you have already solved by hand, the routine is effectively an investment in not having to repeat that manual work later.
Check the Authorization Level requirement of an event on the day it is announced, not the day it opens. Yostar publishes the thresholds in advance, and an account that reaches the required level after the window has closed earns nothing from the event at all. Treat the published number as a deadline and raise the account level deliberately rather than incidentally.
